Auto shopping and pricing site KBB.com released its annual list of 2013 model cars and trucks that it forecasts will be the cheapest for you to own over the first five years, and the 2013 Chevrolet Impala took the blue ribbon for being the best 5-year full-size car value!
Over the years, this coveted title has come by far more stringent standards, and scrutinizes new cars, trucks and SUVs from all segments, from economy and compact to luxury and large. The factors that determine 5-year cost to own include initial cost, depreciation, expected fuel costs, financing and insurance, maintenance and repairs and state fees for new vehicles.
“New-car shoppers often are most concerned with the upfront cost of a vehicle; however, consumers would be wise to consider their purchase from a more holistic standpoint by examining the total cost to own a vehicle over the initial five-year ownership period,” said Dan Ingle, vice president of vehicle valuations for Kelley Blue Book, said in a statement. He said the KBB list “allows consumers to evaluate which brands and models make the most sense for their pocketbooks.”
